I am starting this new blog with an image of a gatekeeper butterfly on knapweed growing alongside a cornfield near Hitchin. This was drawn on 21 July after I cycled along a bridleway towards Pirton with the storm clouds in the distance producing a wonderful contrast with the foreground. The grass verge was full of dead grasses, hogweed seed heads and the yellow of agrimony and lilac of scabious. I took photos and worked up the picture at home.
My previous blog will be retired in a few months after many years of service since 2007. Now that I use Instagram regularly, I wanted to change to a more integrated web/blog platform that offered more flexibility for possible future development There may be a few teething issues as I get to grips with it, so do let me know of anything that could be improved.
